Election 2008: Rosemary Segado To Be Our Candidate!
Wolfville, NS
September 8, 2008 Press Release
Kings-Hants
Conservative
Association President Hugh Roddis announced today that two-term
Wolfville councillor Rosemary
Segado will be the Conservative candidate
in Kings-Hants.
Mrs. Segado, a self-employed
small businessperson, was first elected in 2000 to Wolfville town
council, and was re-elected in 2004.
"From my time in municipal
politics, I have seen a need for Kings and Hants counties to have
effective representation in Parliament. My candidacy is an
opportunity for voters to choose someone to deliver that kind of
representation," the married mother of two said.
Mrs. Segado, an immigrant to
Canada, commented, "I am proud to see Canada take a place of pride,
once again, on the world stage. This is even more important now
in uncertain times with the global economy. Under Stephen Harper,
Canada continues to lead the G8 in job creation. With the Prime
Minister's leadership, our economy is in capable hands. That is
important, and has direct results, for our local communities."
"I am concerned about our
environment as are the people I speak with every day," Mrs. Segado
added. "I hear from a lot of people that they are concerned about
Stephane Dion's carbon tax which will destroy jobs and drive up the
cost of home heating fuel, electricity and everything else. We've
all got too much at stake to let Mr. Dion and my Liberal opponent, the
carbon tax's co-author, launch an unprecedented attack on our standard
of living."
"In my
eight years on town
council, I have delivered on my commitments to the people of
Wolfville. I know the importance of keeping election
promises. I am inspired by the principled leadership of Prime
Minister Harper in delivering government priorities for ordinary
Canadians, and I want to join him in Ottawa during a second consecutive
Conservative government," Mrs. Segado concluded.
Prime
Minister Stephen
Harper announced yesterday that a general election will be held on
Tuesday, October 14.
